I've just returned from an amazing break away in Turkiye. Weather and people were fabulous, as always and I travelled with two maternal aunts, who almost loved the place as much as I do.
We spent quite a lot of time in a live music venue (free to enter) called Wooden Stage in Calis (which is where we stayed). There was a great atmosphere in the bar and at weekends, it was frequented by many locals, including a local motorbike chapter. I cannot tell you how interesting I found it, to be able to study them (from afar). The place was FULL of interesting characters and that alone gave me many more wonderful people for you to read about in up and coming books.
We spent quite a lot of time in more traditional Turkish restaurants that bordered the beach and gave amazing uninterrupted sunsets. The street dogs were in abundance and one of my aunts who is a dog lover was in her element feeding them. The Sunday market at Calis was a burst of rainbows with its huge fruits and vegetables that make our own look undernourished. In fact, on returning to the UK, I was quite disgusted with the pitiful efforts in my local large supermarket.
I wrote part of Book 2, Justice for the Innocent whilst there and touched base with some old friends and made new ones. I can't wait for the next time!
