It's almost a year that our beautiful Nina left us. She will be forever young and never forgotten. We started to venture out in our Nina inspired motorhome and decided that we loved it! We have NEVER been campers, but having your own home on wheels is different as you make it how you want it. You put all of your own comforts in and travel to places you wouldn't normally visit. Unfortunately we didnt get to as many places as we wanted as my husband Mark got pancreatitis and was in hospital. He then returned for an operation to remove his gall bladder so there as quite a lot of time recuperating. But we did stay in some lovely places just a few hours from our home. A few of my favourites were a couple of old thatched roof inns, where we stayed for free as we ate there. Another was Anderby Creek, a very small beach resort, and also Woodhall Spa.
We have now purchased a newer motorhome, with more mod cons as we are going to France for three weeks in summer with friends. Last year, I managed to return twice to Turkiye, once to Kusadasi with my stepmum Cathy, and then to Hisaronu with my aunty Chris (surprised by my cousins Becky and Danielle as they turned up unannounced! It was a fab surprise). This year I'm back there again, with my stepmum Cathy to Hisaronu and later in the year with my 2 aunts Chris and Mo and my cousin Becky. We are celebrating my 60th birthday and Becky's 50th. We have booked a villa at Calis Beach my spiritual home and where my 'dad' used to live.
Mark and I made it to Fuertaventura this year, instead of Lanzarote. Everything went well, until Mark again fell ill and we had to extend our holiday by a couple of days as he couldn't fly. This is the last package tour we will be taking together, from now on we will go abroad in the motorhome, I can't wait!
My Gideon Carr books are still in edit. I will be reading through them again soon and decide whether to submit to an editor or self publish.
I'm currently writing a medieval time travel novel (and have a sequel in mind too), its getting good reviews from my fellow writers, but I'm not sure if I will publish it. I do love the story though, it is set in two places I am very familiar with. Newstead Abbey (I used to work there in the early 2000's), and Greasley Castle (I work there now as project manager). I will see what sort of feedback I get when I write the ending. The one I currently have in mind isn't what you might expect, but then, things might change. There's still a lot to go off between the pages.
I am still doing my family history, both of my granddaughters have recently done their DNA, so I am adding to their family trees. Useless piece of information King Charles III is my 16 x cousin and Elvis Presley is my 18th cousin twice removed (different branches of my family). I could bore you with more, but I'm sure you have better things to do with your day!
Until next time...
